Another Home Gun Retailer Approved In Southington
The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission earlier this month said 'yes' to its second such operation in a matter of weeks.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local zoning officials recently approved another home-based firearms retail operation, the second in a span of weeks.
The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission voted 7-0 earlier this month to approve a home occupation application for local resident Jeremy Berube, who will sell firearms on an appointment-only basis at his 338 Town Line Road property.
Speaking at an April 4 hearing before the PZC, Berube explained he was going into gun retail sales as a secondary source of income and work doing that would be on weekends.

In addition to selling guns legally, Berube's operation would include assisting customers with the necessary paperwork to legally purchase firearms.
He told the PZC his home has the appropriate safes, security cameras and steel doors to ensure any firearms being sold are safely kept and stored.

According to Berube, firearms and any other equipment would be shipped to his address via UPS, a necessity as such items are not permitted to be shiped via mail.
Outside of a few questions, PZC members did not have any problems with the application and the public hearing April 4 drew no public comments.
It is the second such home gun retail operation approved by the PZC in as many months.
On March 21, the PZC unanimously voted to approve Mount Vernon Road resident Kurt Guillemette's gun retail applicant to sell at his home.
That hearing and approval process went similiarly to the one for Berube.
