Officers on arrival spotted the 22-year-old woman lying in the roadway just outside her parked vehicle, police said.
She had suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford for treatment.
According to police, the woman was exiting the driver's side of her vehicle when a pickup truck, traveling south, struck her and her vehicle.
"The pickup truck then fled the scene by continuing southbound on Bristol Street at a high rate of speed," Southington police wrote in a statement.
On April 29, police said they located the vehicle responsible for the crash. At that time, the victim's condition had improved to "stable," but she remained in intensive care at that time.
In the latest update on the case, police said Gothberg turned himself in to Southington police after learning of an active warrant for his arrest.
According to police, the Southington Accident Investigation Team identified Gothberg as the owner and operator of a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup that hit the woman and then fled.
