SOUTHINGTON, CT — The condition of a woman hit by a passing car Wednesday night in Southington has improved, but local police are still looking for the vehicle and driver that fled the scene.

Police Friday morning said that the pedestrian, identified as 22-year-old Mikaela Emilsson, had improved to stable condition while in the intensive care unit of an area hospital.

According to an incident report, at 10:06 p.m. Thursday, police received reports about someone on foot being hit in the area of Bristol Street at George Street. The vehicle involved was reported to be a truck that possibly evaded the scene, police said.

Emilsson was located in the road just outside her parked vehicle. She had suffered serious injuries from the collision and was transported to Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, according to an incident report.

A preliminary investigation showed that Emilsson was exiting the driver's side of her vehicle when a pickup truck, which was traveling south, struck both her and her vehicle. The pickup truck then fled the scene by continuing south on Bristol Street at a high rate of speed, according to a report.
