From Bonnets To Bell Bottoms, Southington Museum To look At Fashion
The special exhibit on Southington fashion begins Sept. 26 at The Barnes Museum.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — From the generation prior to the Civil War to the groovy 1960s, the fashion of Southington residents in days gone by will be on full display at the Barnes Museum later this month.
Located at 85 N. Main St., the museum Sept. 26 will usher in a new exhibit called "Thread Through Time - A Timeline of Fashion in Southington."
From bonnets to bell bottoms, the exhibit will showcase the garments worn by locals over several generations from 1840 to 1970.

"Explore fashion history through the accessories, garments, and shoes that defined fashionable attire for their respective decades throughout Southington’s evolution," wrote the museum in an exhibit announcement.
"Great for fashion lovers of all ages, this is the first time the Barnes Museum textile collection will be on full display."

The new exhibit will open Monday, Sept. 26, and continue through to Monday, Nov. 7. The parking lot for the museum can be accessed via Riccio Way.
Drop-in tours of the exhibit are available from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday to Friday, with the last tour starting at 4 p.m. Tours are also open five days a week by appointment.
The exhibit will also be open during the annual Apple Harvest Festival event on Friday, Sept. 30; Saturday, Oct. 1; Friday, Oct. 7; and Saturday, Oct 8.
