Beloved Bristol Bakery Closes Due To 'High Costs'
The artisanal bakery served Bristol and surrounding towns with custom cakes, croissants, bread, cookies, and cupcakes.
BRISTOL, CT — Citing the high cost of doing business, a beloved Bristol bakery closed for good last weekend, with the owners leaving with a poignant message to the community.
"If we could leave with one last request it would be to be kind to everyone," wrote the owners of Bakery on Maple Saturday, June 27, the last day of operation.
"Include everyone, celebrate everyone, acknowledge everyone for who they are, and accept that it’s their choice to be who they are.

Bakery staff announced the operation's imminent closure earlier this month, announcing last week that Saturday would be its last day, sooner than expected.
"We wanted to be here for years to come, but what we do just couldn’t be done on a scale needed to keep this location going," wrote bakery management.
"The people we met, the smiles we shared, the feeling of physical and mental exhaustion while also feeling content are memories that we will never forget."
Customers and staff said goodbyes at the bakery on Saturday, with final cake orders filled and as much inventory as possible sold off.
