Beloved Southington PD Official Retires After 25 Years
The department recently honored the long-time law enforcer's 25 years of service, citing his leadership and community involvement.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local police force recently bid adieu to one of its senior officers, as the veteran cop left Southington in retirement.
Master Sgt. Jason Watson retired from the Southington Police Department on April 14 after 25 years of service, concluding a career that spanned patrol, supervision, and community engagement.
Watson held multiple roles during his tenure, including traffic officer, Field Training Officer, and road supervisor.

He later served as a day shift commander, overseeing daily operations, and led the department’s honor guard.
Colleagues recognized Watson as a respected leader within the department and credited him with mentoring newer officers through his work as a Field Training Officer.

In a statement marking his retirement, the department said, “Your unwavering commitment and leadership have left a lasting impact on everyone who has had the honor of serving alongside you.”
Watson was also active in community initiatives, including fundraising efforts for Special Olympics and participation in “Stuff a Cruiser” events that support local charitable causes.
