Blue Knights Marching Band earns 5th spot at Nationals

Blue Knights finish marching band season on a high note.

The Blue Knights Marching Band's season has officially come to end, and it will certainly be a season to remember. The Blue Knights competed at the US Bands Open National Championships at the MetLife Stadium on November 11. They finished in 5th place with a score of 94.838, while competing against bands from Arkansas, Virginia, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Connecticut bands had a big impact in the competition, and also took 1st and 2nd spots of the night. Trumbull finished 2nd with a score of 97.613. Norwalk earned 1st place and the National title with a score of 97.775. This marks the official end of the fall marching band season for all the groups.

Competing at Nationals is always a special day/night for the Blue Knights group. 7 coach buses, carrying students and families, travel to the event. Then, a tailgate dinner is prepared for everyone in the stadium parking lot. This year, over 400 people were served at the pre-competition meal. And because the event fell on Veteran's Day, the Blue Knights honored their veterans by lining their tailgate area with US flags.

This Nationals competition marked the official end of the Blue Knights marching band season. This was a banner season for them with a 3rd place finish at States, 4th place at Regional Championships and the 5th spot at Nationals.
