Cheshire Man Faces Charges In Southington Fatal Crash: Police
The 19-year-old turned himself in to state police Thursday in connection with a Feb. 5 crash on I-84 that killed a 58-year-old woman.

SOUTHINGTON/CHESHIRE, CT — A young Cheshire man has been formally charged by state police in connection with a fatal Southington crash last February.
According to Connecticut State Police Friday, Maxwell Nemec, 19, of Cheshire, turned himself in at Troop H in Hartford Thursday following an arrest warrant.
Police said Nemec was charged with reckless driving; failure to maintain proper lane; second-degree manslaughter; and misconduct with a motor vehicle.

Nemec was later released from custody on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Dec. 19.
The accident happened Feb. 5 on Interstate 84 in Southington at about 6:48 a.m., according to police at the time.

Police said a 2014 Nissan Juke being driven by Nemec collided with a 2018 BMW X3 on I-84 East in Southington, resulting in both vehicles rolling over.
While Nemec suffered minor injuries, the 58-year-old female from Waterbury suffered serious injuries and, later, died at an area hospital, police said.
