Edward Pocock III Promoted to Captain
The lifelong Southington resident will take on new challenges after being named the Southington Police Department's next captain.

There are new challenges ahead for Edward Pocock III as he takes on the role of captain at the .
Pocock was promoted from his role as lieutenant late last week, police confirmed on Monday. He will replace Capt. Greg Simone, who recently retired after more than 25 years on the job.
"There is an open lieutenant position," Sgt. Lowell DePalma said Monday. "The department is currently testing and the position will be filled in the near future."
Pocock, 43, is a well-recognized name in town. He has served several terms on the Southington Town Council and is also a prominent member of the Southington Republican Town Committee. His father, Edward Pocock Jr., is a former member of the department and member of the Board of Finance, as well as a driver at the .
No specific timetable has been set yet for hiring a new candidate for lieutenant.
