Former Southington Landfill Could House Solar Panels

A former Southington landfill could potentially become a solar panel site.

The town needs approval from state regulators because the site was used for commercial and industrial waste, according to the Record-Journal.

Tow Manager Garry Brumback said he doesn’t foresee the solar panels damaging the landfill cap.

There is also concern unless the state legislature increases the net metering credits utility companies must provide. The town will only save money if the cap is increased.
