Home Camera Helps Cops Nab 2nd Southington Break-In Suspect
A West Hartford man has been charged in a Southington Break-In case.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A home camera system helped Southington police capture a second suspect in an August home break-in.
Police said Shameek Allen, 22, of West Hartford surrendered at the Southington Police Department on an outstanding warrant. The warrant resulted from an incident in August 2019 in which a resident of Burritt Street returned home after taking his dog for a walk to find the front door open and a man his home, police said.
The man fled the home and the resident discovered that his laptop and a backpack were missing, police said.

A check of surveillance video at the home and at other area homes allowed investigators to obtain
images of two suspects and identify a getaway car as a Subaru Crosstrek, police said.
The images of the suspects were sent to area police departments, which led to the identification of Allen and a co conspirator, Shykeim Lewis as a suspects, the warrant states.

Allen was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit firth-dehree larceny. He was held pending a $350,000.00 bond and was to be arraigned in New Britain Superior Court Tuesday, police said.
The co-conspirator in the break-in, Shykeim Lewis was arrested for his connection with the incident on Nov. 20, police said.
