I-691 In Southington Closed Due To Overturned Vehicle

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A section of Interstate 691 in Southington was shut down this afternoon due to a crash, according to state police.

The accident was on I-691 westbound, between exits 4 and 3 on the state highway, police said.

Police ask motorists to seek alternate routes.

The state Department of Transportation said the accident involved an overturned motor vehicle and initially resulted in the right lane being closed at about 12:55 p.m.

DOT officials said they are unsure when the road will reopen and the accident will be cleared up.
