Intense Fire Damages Southington Home Thursday: SFD
In addition to Southington FD units, the blaze required the help of Bristol, Meriden, New Britain, Plainville, and Cheshire firefighters.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington home was badly damaged by fire late Thursday afternoon, with several area fire departments assisting the Southington Fire Department.
According to the SFD, firefighters were dispatched to 36 Flanders St. at 5:48 p.m. for a report of a residential structure fire.
The 911 caller reported the rear porch at the home was on fire and it was spreading into the basement, the SFD said.

Firefighters rushing to the scene reported seeing a large column of smoke emanating from North Main Street,
When crews arrived, they found "heavy fire coming from the rear of the house and requested a second alarm."

Fire officials said firefighters "aggressively knocked down a large body of fire from the rear porch that was rapidly extending" to the home's first and second floors.
Firefighters extended hose lines into the home and suppressed much of the fire from within, the SFD said.
No injuries were reported from the fire.
The SFD said several mutual aid departments assisted, including Bristol, Meriden, New Britain, Plainville, and Cheshire.
Covering for Southington during the fire were units from Middletown, Berlin, and the Wolcott fire departments.
The blaze is currently being investigated by the Southington Fire Marshal's Office.
