Kitchen Retailer's Expansion Finally Approved In Southington
The PZC last week voted unanimously to approve the doubling of showroom space at 'Kitchen Cabinet Outlet' on Queen Street.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — With plans now calling for the installation of a fire hydrant on site, a proposal to double the size of the showroom at "Kitchen Cabinet Outlet" has been green-lighted.
The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission last week voted 7-0 to approve, after some delays over the summer, an application to expand the kitchen cabinet retailer's showroom.
According to the approved site plan — filed by B. Lewis Realty LLC, which owns the 919 Queen St. property — the showroom's square footage will double from 6,000 square feet to 12,000.

The added space will help the company's ability to sell and display kitchen cabinets, countertops and other offerings.
Expanding the site was actually approved by the PZC in 2019, but the store opted to re-apply for a bigger expansion it said it needed.

This latest expansion was, initially, slated for a June hearing and approval, but action was tabled to July, when another extension for the application was granted by the PZC.
Town officials had always supported the expansion, but the planning, fire and engineering departments, specifically, had multiple questions and concerns.
One major concern was the need to increase the local water supply there should the Southington Fire Department's services be needed.
These latest plans call for putting in a new fire hydrant which, among other application revisions, prompted the PZC to finally approve the expansion plan.
