Southington PZC Tables Kitchen Retailer Project

The commission voted last week to give applicant a 30-day expansion to answer questions on doubling the size of its showroom space.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The applicant for a plan to expand a "Kitchen Cabinet Outlet" asked for and received a 30-day extension regarding action on a site plan to double the amount of showroom space there.

Sev Bovino of Kratzert Jones & Associates represented C. Lewis Realty LLC before the Southington Planning and Zoning Commission July 19.

The proposal is to increase the outlet's capacity for showroom space for cabinents, countertops, preparation and storage from 6,000 square feet to 12,000 square feet.

The property is located at 919 Queen St. on a parcel zoned for that type of project.

With the proposal initially on the June PZC agenda, the commission then voted to table any action on the application as the town's planning department had multiple questions on the expansion plans.

Bovino said in 2019 approval was received for an initial site plan, but the company decided that it needed more space.

As a result, additional time was needed to answer questions raised by town staff and a 30-day extension is being asked for, Bovino said in meeting minutes.

As a result, the PZC, again, voted on tabling the matter and having the applicants come back in 30 days.
