SOUTHINGTON/CHESHIRE, CT — A major road project will begin Tuesday, April 23, at a major interstate highway that runs through both Cheshire and Southington.
The state Department of Transportation reports a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Interstate 691 east and westbound in Southington and Cheshire starting Tuesday, April 23.

The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 2.66-mile segment of Interstate 691 east and westbound in Southington and Cheshire from the Meriden/Southington town line to the Ten Mile River overpass.
This project is scheduled to begin milling on Tuesday, with the resurfacing segment anticipated to begin on Sunday, April 28.

As a result, motorists can expect lane closures on Interstate 691 east and westbound in Southington and Cheshire from the Meriden/Southington town line to the Ten Mile River overpass.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.
The night work schedule for this project is Tuesday, April 23, to Sunday, April 28.
The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to begin Sunday, April 28, to Thursday, May 2 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday to Thursday.
Motorists should be aware modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
