Southington Crash Cleared As Roadway Reopens: Update

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A serious crash Wednesday morning in Southington resulted in the lengthy closure of Route 10, according to the state Department of Transportation, but it has now been cleared and the road reopened to traffic.

The DOT reports the accident was caused when a car slammed into a utility pole.

This resulted in the closure of Route 10 (Queen Street) both ways between the Plainville town line and Birth Street, the DOT said.

The crash was first reported at 7:33 a.m. and it was reported cleared by 9:40 a.m., according to the DOT's Twitter feed.

According to the Southington Fire Department, the crash involved a vehicle rolling over and taking down the pole and wires.

Images from WVIT Channel 30 showed a vehicle on its side, with the television station reporting there is no word regarding any injuries yet.
