Man Charged For 2nd Southington Robbery

A MIddletown man was charged for am armed robbery in Southington, his second theft-related arrest in town.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Middletown man has been charged for a an armed robbery in Southington, his second theft-related arrest locally.

The latest incident took place on Sept. 4.

At 11:54 that night, police were dispatched to the Henny Penny, 273 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike, for reported robbery involving a knife, according to a report.

A man entered the store wearing a blue bandana over his face and a hoodie holding a silver knife that was 5-to-10–inches long, according to a report.

The suspect ordered the clerk to the open the cashg register, which he did, and about $150 was taken, according to a report. The bandit also stole "four or five" packs of cigarettes valued at about $11 per pack, police said.

Several nearby communities had similar incidents and, after a collaborative investigation, Shawn Mullaly 43 of Middletown, was identified as a suspect. Mullaly was already in custody from a previous arrest and had an appearance date in New Britain Superior Court on Nov. 30. He was then served a warrant for the Henny Penny incident charging him with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree robbery.

Mullaly was held on a court set $150,000 bond.

Mullaly was also arrested by Southington police on Sept. 10 in connection with a robbery at the Food Bag, 960 Meriden Waterbury Road, that same day. See the details of that case here.
