Man Charged After Firing Warning Shot in Southington Neighborhood
A man fired a warning shot after seeing an unfamiliar car in his Southington neighborhood, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington man was arrested after firing a warning shot directed to an unfamiliar car in his neighborhood, police said.
On Tuesday, Reeton Jones, 49, of 310 Buckland St. in the Plantsville section of Southington, was charged with the illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, second-degree breach of peace and first-degree reckless endangerment, police said.
Police said Jones saw a vehicle in the area of his home that he did not recognize and approached it. He pointed a handgun at the vehicle and the man inside apologized and drove away, police said.

As the man was driving away, Jones fired a gunshot into the air, police said.
Police responded to the area and Jones exited his home with the gun in a holster, a report shows. Police then discovered he was drunk, according to a report.

Jones had a valid permit to carry a firearm, police said. The gun in question and other firearms were seized, police said.
Jones was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on March 26, police said.
