Man Charged In Southington Machete Attack And Home Invasion
A man was charged in a weekend machete attack over the weekend, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Meriden man has been charged in a Southington machete attack and home invasion, police said.
The incident took place Saturday at a Southington home, police said.

Southington poice went to a woman's home after being told the ex-boyfriend of a resident was there hitting a vehicle with a machete. According to a report, Figueroa went there and found another vehicle in the driveway and believed the woman was with another man.
The other man exited the residence through a side door and Figueroa began to advance toward him with the machete, according to a report.

The man fled and Figueroa then turned to the house, police said. He broke a window, forced his way into the home, and began throwing and "destroying" items inside, according to a report.
When Officers arrived, Figueroa would not let the woman answer the door at first, but eventually surrendered, according to a report.
The woman had cuts and scratches on her arms and red marks on her neck consistent with a choking maneuver, police said.
Figueroa was held over the weekend on a $250,000 bond, and that was cut down to $25,000 at a Monday arraignment, records show. He posted it and was released with a return date of Aug. 12, records show.
