Man Flees Southington Store With Razors In His Pants: Report

A man was caught running from a Southington store with razors in his pants, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man tried to escape authorities at a Southington supermarket with razors in his pants, according to a police report.

At 6:52 p.m. on Sunday,officers were dispatched to the Southington Price Chopper, 410 Queen St., for an active shoplifting, according to a report. Isaac Echevarria, 49 of Waterbury, was apprehended and charged with third-degree burglary, interfering with police and sixth-dxegree larceny, according to a report.

The items were valued at $119.83.

Echevarria was held on $10,000.00 cash/surety bond and was to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Monday, police said.

According to a report, loss prevention staffers at the Chopper observed Echevarria put disposable razors, candy bars and gum into a carriage. While Echevarria was in an aisle, he allegedly concealed all of the products in his pants, according to a report.

Echevarria exited the store, was confronted by security staffers and started to run, police said. Southington Police were already arriving at the scene on scene and intercepted him, a report indicates.

After initially not complying with police, Echevarria eventually gave up and was taken into custody, according toa report.

The stolen items included:

  • Six Gillette disposable razor packs valued at $65.94
  • Six packs of Snickers candy bars valued at $32.94
  • Five packs of Cobalt gum that cost $20.95
