Man Killed In Southington Fire Identified: Police
The person was the lone victim in Tuesday's smoky blaze on Darling Street.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local police Friday confirmed the identity of the man killed in a smoky house fire in Southington earlier this week.
Southington Police Department spokesman Lt. Dan Egan said the blaze claimed the life of Jeffrey Platt, 60.
According to the Southington Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to Darling Street at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, for a report of large amounts of smoke coming from a home.

The caller reporting the fire was a neighbor, firefighters said.
No other injuries were reported in the blaze, which was a rental home at 86 Darling St.

Platt's body was found inside by firefighters.
The fire remains under investigation by the Southington Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office, Southington Police Department, and the State of Connecticut Fire and Explosive Investigation Unit.
