New Southington Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent Hired
Plant workers are also mourning the loss of 29-year employee Richard Ieronimo

A new superintendent for the wastewater treatment plant has been hired.
Michael Finoia, the current Fairfield wastewater treatment superintendent will take the place of John DeGioia, who is retiring after 37 years at the Southington plant, according to the Hartford Courant.
The sewer committee also paid respects to the family of foreman Richard Ieronimo, 62, who died unexpectedly in his sleep last week. He had been at the plant for 29 years. Another longtime foreman had also recently retired.

The treatment plant will be undergoing an $18 million renovation that is expected to last several years.
