Parole Check Leads To Drug Bust in Southington
A check on the parole of a Southington man led to the discovery of a drug stash and store at a local home, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A check on the parole of a Southington man led to the discovery of a drug stash and store at a local home, police said.
According to a report, Connecticut parole officers on Monday were conducting an in-home compliance check at the 115 Norton St. home of 31-year-old Derick Markavich.
Parole officers requested that Southington police officers assist them, according to a report.

During the compliance check, probation officers located a cardboard box in the basement that contained
multiple bags of marijuana, multiple bags of hallucinogenic mushrooms, vape oil containing cannabis,
digital scales, hypodermic needles, bags consistent with drug packaging, and a pipe consistent with
smoking of crack cocaine, according to a report.

Markavich was also found to have a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle in his possession, which was found to be stolen, police said.
Markavich was charged with possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of a controlled
substance, possession of a controlled substance near a school, illegal manufacuring/distributing of
drugs, and second-degree larceny.
He was held on a $50,000 bond and was to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Tuesday.
