Passenger Killed In Wolcott Crash Sunday: Police

The early-morning incident happened after a vehicle slammed a utility pole, police said.

WOLCOTT, CT — An early morning crash in Wolcott Sunday has claimed the life of a passenger in that vehicle, according to local police.

The Wolcott Police Department Sunday said at approximately 2:30 a.m. that day, officers rushed to the area of 1254 Wolcott Road for a report of a one-car crash.

Police said the vehicle had three occupants inside and it had slammed into a utility pole while traveling north on Wolcott Road.

The person killed, police said, was a rear passenger with another passenger incurring minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police said, initially, the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition, with police later reporting the person had died.

As to who was driving the vehicle, police are still investigating and cited conflicting reports of who was behind the wheel.

Police said they have taken DNA samples to determine the driver.

This accident is being investigated by the Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team, police said.
