Police Interrupt Tire Theft At Southington Hotel: SPD

Southington police are asking for the public's help in identifying the getaway vehicle.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local police are looking for the public's assistance after they interrupted three suspects seen stealing tires off a vehicle parked at a local hotel.

The Southington Police Department Tuesday said that at about 4:51 a.m. Tuesday, officers were conducting a routine check of the Homewood Suites parking lot, 1096 West St., in Southington.

That's when, police said, they interrupted three suspects stealing the tires off of a rented 2023 Toyota Camry in the parking lot.

The SPD said officers reported hearing the sounds of metal hitting the ground and located a green colored vehicle.

According to police, they then saw what appeared to be two masked males entering the vehicle.

"As officers attempted to stop the suspects, they continued into the vehicle and accelerated away at a high rate of speed," wrote police Tuesday morning.

Police said officers were able to get a description of the suspect vehicle, a green-colored Honda Accord, and a (stolen) license plate, BA-08309.

According to the SPD, the vehicle fled onto the Interstate 84 east ramp, towards Hartford.

"Evidence obtained from the scene was seized and being processed, in hopes of identifying the suspects," wrote police.

A photo of the suspect vehicle was obtained (currently believed to have heavy driver’s side damage) and it was released Tuesday moring.
