Police: Three Stores Including Stop and Shop Fail Liquor Compliance Check

Three out of 23 stores sold alcohol to a minor, according to police.

Southington Police found that three out of 23 stores failed a recent compliance check after alcohol was sold to minors in a controlled purchase, according to police.

Police along with state Liquor Commission agents and the STEPS Coalition conducted checks at off premise seller locations. Three minors who were between 18 and 19-years-old conducted controlled purchases.

The three stores that failed requested ID from the minor, but failed to properly identify them, said Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz, police spokesman.
