School Ice Cream Social Comes to an End in Southington

The St. Patrick's Day event had been held for decades.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - The traditional St. Patrick's Day ice cream social held at Urbin T. Kelley School in Southington has come to an end.

The annual event will no longer be held at the school in part due to the choice of food, ice cream, that not all students can eat.

According to the Meriden Record-Journal, some parents have voiced their displeasure at the cancellation of the event, though school officials are planning another event in the fall to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary.
