SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Sunday morning car fire in Southington was deliberately set, police said, citing a home surveillance video.

In a report released Monday, police said the entire incident was captured on the home surveillance system.

The fire broke out at 4:42 a.m. on Hart Street, fire officials said. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Police said the home's surveillance system showed a person approach the front door of the residence with what appears to be a "water bottle type receptacle." The suspect is then seen pouring a liquid in various areas between the front door of the home and the vehicle and then pouring the liquid onto the vehicle, which he then set on fire, a report indicates.
