Serious Crash In Southington Involving Truck Cleared: Update

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Traffic was badly snarled on Interstate 84 in Southington after a tractor trailer and a vehicle collided late Friday morning, but it has finally been cleared.

According to the state Department of Transportation, traffic was backed up 4 miles on I-84 eastbound due to the crash, which occurred between exits 32 and 33.

As a result of the wreck, the right and center lanes were closed, according to the DOT.

State officials said the crash happened at 11:11 a.m. and it was finally declared "cleared" by the DOT at about 3:29 p.m.

The Hartford Courant is reporting "serious injuries" in the crash.
