Southington Businesses Unite For Blood Cancer Fundraising Campaign
Multiple Southington shops are part of the April 'Drinks for a Cure' campaign, with proceeds supporting blood cancer research.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Multiple area businesses this month are participating in a statewide April fundraiser supporting Blood Cancer United through a campaign called “Drinks for a Cure.”
Lauren Markure, owner of LB’s Sweet Treats in Southington, 67 Sunnyslope Drive, recently announced she is part of a 10-week fundraising campaign after being selected by Autumn Elmazi, founder of CT Kids Passport, for the organization’s "Visionary of the Year" effort.
The initiative brings together 18 Connecticut content creators and local businesses to sell limited-edition beverages, with a portion of proceeds donated to blood cancer research and patient support.

Nearby, Rebel Dog Coffee in Plainville, 393 Farmington Ave., is participating in a related “Creators for a Cure” challenge across all four of its locations.
The business introduced four specialty drinks and added an option for online customers to donate an additional $1 or $5 to the organization.
Markure also partnered with Sweet Mia’s Bakery, 859 Marion Ave., in the Plantsville section of Southington.
The bakery created two specialty cupcakes, with $1 from each sale in April donated to the cause.
In addition to product-based fundraising, organizers are planning events and seeking sponsorships.
A "Grand Finale Gala" is scheduled for May 7 at The Riverview in Simsbury.
Markure said F&F Concrete Corp. in Plantsville has committed as a sponsor, and additional businesses are being invited to participate.
A separate event, “Sips for Strength,” is planned for April 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hawk Ridge Winery in Watertown.
The fundraiser will include live music, raffles, a live auction, and local vendors, with proceeds benefiting Blood Cancer United.
Markure said the campaign aims to encourage community involvement through everyday purchases and local events.
