Southington Cops Serve 5 Burglary Warrants on Accused Thief

A man has been charged in Southington on five burglary warrants, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man has been charged in Southington on five burglary warrants, police said.

On June 8, Angel Mercado, age 35 of New Britain, was transported from Hartford Correctional
Center to Bristol Superior Court on a Habeas warrant to to be arraigned on charges from five separate burglary cases out of Southington, police said.

He was being held on other charges, records show.

These warrants stemmed from a string of thefts allegedly committed by Mercado between Jan 22 and 26 in the areas of West Street, Hart Street, Ridgewood Road and Juniper Road, police said.

Mercado bonds for the Southington cases totaled$250,000, police said.

Police detailed the charges.

  • Warrant No. 1: Third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card, receiving goods by the illegal use of a credit card, criminal attempt to commit fifth-degree larceny, criminal attempt to commit the illegal use of a credit card, criminal attempt to commit receiving goods by the illegal use of a credit card. The bond is $50,000.
  • Warrant No. 2: Third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny with a $50,000 bond.
  • Warrant No. 3: Third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny with a bond of $50,000.
  • Warrant No. 4: Second-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card, receiving goods by the illegal use of a credit card with a $50,000 bond.
  • Warrant No. 5: Second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree larceny with a bond of $50,000.
