Southington Drive-In's 2024 Slate Starts With A Shark Tale
The nonprofit Southington Drive-In movie theater this week released its 2024 schedule, which starts June 1 with the original 'Jaws.'
SOUTHINGTON, CT — From a ravenous shark to a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich-craving king of rock and roll, the Southington Drive-In's recently released 2024 schedule has something for all.
According to the new schedule released this week, it starts on Saturday, June 1, when the community-owned and volunteer-run outdoor theater at 995 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike will show the 1975 blockbuster "Jaws."
Afterward, movies will be shown every Saturday night through the end of the season on Sept. 14.

And the price is right too, with walk-ins charged $5 and a carload costing a maximum of $20, so even if you "need a bigger" car, it won't set you back more than a $20 bill.
As always, the gates open at 6 p.m. and when it gets dark, the movies will start flickering onscreen.

Tuesday, the Southington Drive-In released its 2024 Summer Season schedule, one that also includes the movies "Elvis," "Back to the Future," "Grease," "Wonka," "Trolls" and "The Sandlot," among others.
A unique aspect of the drive-in is it is completely a nonprofit entity, with a town-operated pavilion on its grounds and the proceeds of the theater benefiting myriad nonprofits.
"This is our 15th year as a community-owned and volunteer-operated venue," wrote the drive-in theater.
"All proceeds are distributed to our host non-profit and civic organizations at the end of the season."
According to drive-in officials, approximately $350,000 has been distributed to host groups.
"A special thank you goes to our season sponsor, Richard Chevrolet, which has committed to our Southington Drive-In for more than a decade," wrote the drive-in.
