Fatal Bristol Police Shooting Hits Close To Southington

Southington shares a border with Bristol and responders have worked together.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington shares a border with Bristol and, following the overnight tragedy in Bristol, it shares in that community's collective grief.

According to Connecticut State Police, three Bristol Police Department officers were involved in an officer-involved shooting early this morning.

Two are dead with a third seriously wounded, according to CSP.

As the morning has unfolded, tributes have been pouring in from throughout the state.

The Southington Fire Department, which has worked with Bristol responders regularly, posted its response at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

"An absolute heartbreaking tragedy in the neighboring City of Bristol. Our sincerest condolences go out to our brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community and the families of the fallen officers," wrote the Southington Fire Department.

The Southington Police Department also issued a response to the tragedy.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bristol Police Department and their families and friends," wrote the SPD on its Facebook page late Thursday morning.
