Southington Has The Necessities for Bear Sightings

Bear sightings in Southington are vastly more than in neighboring towns.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - The state’s black bear population has been increasing, and Southington is among the leading towns for sightings, the Record-Journal reported, citing the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Over the past calendar year, reports of black bear sighting totaled 44.

That compares to eight reports in Cheshire, three in Wallingford and two in Meriden, the DEEP said.
