SOUTHINGTON/BERLIN, CT — A Southington High School student planning to pursue a career in veterinary science has been awarded a scholarship recognizing her achievements in agricultural education and leadership.

Bright Feeds, a Berlin-based agricultural feed manufacturer, recently awarded its Bright Feeds Animal Science Scholarship to Liliana DiMauro, a 2026 SHS graduate who will attend Morehead State University in Kentucky this fall to study veterinary science.

The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate excellence in animal science, agriculture and leadership.

“Liliana represents the next generation of leaders in agriculture,” Bright Feeds Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Fife said in a statement. “Her academic excellence, hands-on experience, and leadership in FFA make her exceptionally deserving of this scholarship. Supporting students pursuing agriculture-related careers helps strengthen both our industry and the communities we serve.”

DiMauro has been actively involved in the National FFA Organization, serving as student advisor for her chapter. She has also earned the Charter Oak Degree, the highest level of achievement awarded by Connecticut FFA.

In addition to her agricultural education accomplishments, DiMauro has maintained a high honors grade-point average and participates in the National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society and the Women in Science and Engineering Club.

Owen McLaughlin, director of the Southington Regional Agriculture Program, said the scholarship will help support DiMauro as she continues her education.

“This scholarship will have a meaningful impact on Liliana as she takes the next step in her academic career,” McLaughlin said. “Support from local partners like Bright Feeds strengthens our program and continues to elevate opportunities for students in our community to pursue careers in agriculture and animal science.”

Bright Feeds said the scholarship reflects its ongoing support for agricultural science programs at Southington High School, whose Regional Agriculture Program provides students with hands-on learning opportunities and career preparation in agriculture and animal science.

Founded in 2022, Bright Feeds converts surplus food streams into livestock feed and partners with agricultural producers throughout the region. The company said it continues to invest in local communities while working to address food system challenges and reduce waste.
