Southington Man Charged With Attempt to Commit Murder in East Hampton Assault Case
On White Birch Road in East Hampton, Lisa Rader was allegedly beaten so severely she had to undergo emergency surgery.

East Hampton resident Lisa Rader sustained frightening injuries after an alleged assault in September 16, 2014.
“A female victim was severely beaten about the head and in grave condition,” Sgt. Shane Hassett 133 said in a press release. “She was transported to Marlborough Hospital, stabilized and transported to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford where she underwent emergency surgery for her severe life-threatening injuries.”
Detectives from the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad (EDMCS) assisted the East Hampton Police Department.

After a lengthy investigation, EDMCS Detectives developed a suspect, applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for the accused: Matthew M. Frick, 24, of 239 Sand Hill Rd. Portland, who was arrested on May 21, 2015.
“He left me for dead,” Rader said in an NBC Connecticut interview below.

As a result of Frick’s arrest, State Police Detectives developed another allegedly involved suspect and applied for an arrest warrant for the accused involvement in the assault.
At 1:40 p.m. Saturday, June 6, James J. McMahon, Jr.,48, of 11 Coach St., Southington, and arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant.
The investigation is continuing and an additional arrest is anticipated, Sgt. Hassett said.
McMahon was charged with:
- Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder
- Conspiracy to Commit Assault 1st Degree
- Assault 1st Degree
- Home Invasion
- Burglary 1st Degree

McMahon was transported to Troop K in Colchester and held on a court-set $1,000,000 cash/surety bond and a June 8 court date.
