Southington Man Charged In Homemade Gun Case

A Southington man has been charged for allegedly building his own gun while being inelligible to posess any firearms.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington man has been charged for allegedly building his own gun while being inelligible to posess any firearms, police said.

At 12:07 p.m. Friday, Andrew Lee, 31 of Southington, was arrested via an active warrant, police said. Lee was charged with the criminal possession of a firearm, released on a $5,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Dec. 17, police said.

The case dates back to Nov. 28, when Southington police made contact with Lee during an investigation into an unrelated incident, according to a report. Officers found that Lee was in possession of a handgun that he allegedly built with a friend.

The gun was built to resemble a .40 cal. handgun, according to a report.

Lee is the subject of an active protective order issued in June and is ineligible to possess firearms, police said.
