Southington Man Strangled To Death, Man Charged: Police
Southington police Thursday charged a 25-year-old Torrington man the strangulation death of a 55-year-old Southington man last April.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The death of a Southington man last April has now been classified as a homicide, with local police Friday saying a Torrington man is now in custody.
The Southington Police Department Friday morning said Brian Seholm, 25, of 21 Marion Ave., Apt. 1, Torrington, was charged Thursday with murder and is being held on $2 million bond.
The charge, police said, stems from an incident on April 11, 2023, when the SPD was called to 32 Douglas St., Southington, after a 911 call reporting an unresponsive 55-year-old man.

That man has been identified as Dominick Francischelli, who was determined to be a resident of that address.
Francischelli was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving paramedics, police said, prompting a subsequent police investigation.

Police said the probe resulted in the department obtaining multiple search warrants with an autopsy at the Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner's Office determining the cause of death as being "compression of the neck" and the manner of death being a "homicide."
Ultimately, police obtained an arrest warrant on Thursday, Jan. 11, charging him with the strangulation death of Francischelli.
Police said Seholm "is an associate" of Francischelli and was found to be with him the night of the murder.
Southington police said Seholm was taken into custody Thursday night in Torrington without incident.
Seholm was expected to appear in New Britain Superior Court Jan. 12.
