Southington Offers Tax Break to Breweries

The brewery would have to move in to a historic vacant building in order to qualify.

A new tax abatement program may have prospective breweries raising a glass in celebration.

Southington has buildings in town that have been vacant for years and its also looking to draw in new businesses. The Town Council came up with a plan to do both by offering a tax break to breweries that open in such locations, according to WFSB.

The historic buildings must be vacant for at least 10 years in order to qualify.

Breweries would move in and be in charge of renovations. In exchange they would get a 100 percent tax break the first three years, 75 percent the fourth year and 50 percent the fifth year.
