Southington PD Daredevils Raise $3K Rapelling Down Hotel

The fearless foursome raised money for Connecticut Special Olympics Sept. 2.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local police department's fearless foursome that scaled down the side of a high-rise hotel last Friday did so raising $3,000 for a very good cause.

According to the Southington Police Department, the daredevil quartet rappelled down the side of the massive Mohegan Sun hotel to benefit Connecticut Special Olympics and The Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The fundraiser was called "Over the Edge" and its done annually by brave souls who conquer their fear of heights to help out various causes of importance, in this case for Special Olympics.

Southington's brave souls were: Sgt. Donald MacKenzie; dispatcher Melissa Kelly; Officer Lauren Verab; and dispatcher Jose Luna-Peguero.

"Thank you to the community members who donated," wrote the Southington Police Department.
