Southington Police On Distracted Driving Campaign
Local police will be out in force over the next two weeks enforcing distracted driving laws.

NORTH-CENTRAL, CT — Southington police will be out in force over the next two weeks enforcing distracted driving laws and serving as a deterrent.
It's a combined effort with state and federal departments of transportation.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office has announced the second phase of the U Drive. U Text. U Pay. campaign. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2017 alone 3,166 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.
To help ensure that motorists keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel, The Connecticut Department of Transportation will be partnering with State and local law enforcement between August 1 and August 15, as part of the campaign.
