Southington Police Find Driver Passed Out With 500 Bags of Heroin

Southington police snagged more than 500 bags of heroin and a bagful of crack this week in a vehicle, a report says.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police snagged more than 500 bags of heroin and a bagful of crack after finding a driver passed out at a local intersection, a report indicates.

Police on Jan. 7 arrested Shawnya Watson, 34, of Southington, on a warrant charging her with possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, two counts of possession of narcotics and two counts of possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, according to a warrant.

At 9:14 p.m. the previous day, Southington Police responded to the area of Darling Street and Flanders Street on a report of a driver slumped over the wheel of her vehicle.

The driver was identified as Watson and she was the sole occupant of the vehicle, police said. While trying to help her, officers noticed marijuana on the floor of the vehicle along with bundles of wax paper, folded up in a way consistent with heroin packaging, a report indicates.

The contents of the wax folds tested positive for heroin, police said.

Police also found a plastic bag containing crack cocaine, according to a report.

In all, police uncovered 504 bags of heroin and 48.7 grams of crack, according to a report.

Watson was transported from the scene to an area medical center for evaluation and a warrant was applied for, police said.

Watson posted a $100,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Court on Jan. 22.
