Southington Police Investigating Robbery at Farmington Bank

Officers are investigating a morning robbery at the Farmington Bank branch on Center Street after police said a man entered the bank and demanded money before running away from the bank up North Main Street.

Detectives were called to the bank Monday morning just before noon to reports that the branch had just been robbed, Southington Police Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said in a press release.

According to the initial police report, a man entered the bank and immediately approached a teller and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash before then leaving the bank and running north on North Main Street.

No weapon was shown or implied at the time of the robbery, police said. No one was injured in the incident.

“After the robbery, the suspect was last seen running in a northeasterly direction away from the bank,” Dobratz said. “Police set up a perimeter checking the area for the suspect and locating witnesses. According to witnesses, it's possible the suspect left in an older model silver or grayish color Ford Taurus.”

The suspect is described as a white male and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a knit hat underneath. He was also wearing blue jeans and is about six feet tall with a thin build, police said.
