Southington Police: No Threat Was Present During Thalberg Lockdown
The school went into 'secure' mode as a precaution, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - Southington police said the stranger who prompted the Thalberg Elementary School lockdown on Wednesday wound up being no stranger at all.
But, as they are trained to do, school officials notified police of an "authorized person" on school grounds and went into "secure school mode," as a precaution, according to a news release.
Police arrived on the scene, interviewed the "unauthorized person," and that person was determined to be," a special needs individual who lives in a neighborhood of the school and entered the school property," according to a news release.

Police then gave the person a ride home, according to a news release.
"There was no threat to any student(s) and nothing of a criminal nature was found to have taken place," police said. "The 'secure school' mode was lifted after the school officials were notified of the SPD’s findings. No further action was taken in this incident."
