Southington Stolen Car Stop Leads To Burglary Tool Seizure

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A stolen car was recovered and burglary tools were seized after a traffic stop in Southington, police said.

Southington police released details on the April 21 incident Tuesday.

At 3:50 that morning, Southington police noticed a gray Ford Escape matching the description
of a reported suspicious vehicle traveling north on Old Turnpike Road. The car was eventually stopped on Main Street and the occupants were identified as Daniel Marciano, 19, of Hamden (the driver) and and Carlos Rodriguea-Bilbao, 24, of Cheshire, (the passenger), according to a report.

The car was identified as being stolen from an area business.

Officers located a crowbar and a sledgehammer in the car, a report indcates. Police said both tools are commonly used in the commission of burglaries.

Also located in the vehicle were multiple pairs of sunglasses, cell phone chargers, store gift cards, and loose change, police said.

Marciano and Rodriguez-Bilbao were both charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools.
