Southington Student Recognized at Westover School Convocation

Two Connecticut residents received awards at Westover School of Middlebury's convocation.

Four Westover School students were honored at this year’s Convocation ceremonies on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Westover Scholastic Award, given to the returning student who has the highest average for the preceding year, regardless of class, was presented to Yiyue “Isabella” Wang, a sophomore from Hangzhou City, China.

The Sexton-Walker Scholarship Award, given to a returning student who, in the opinion of the faculty and administration, has made excellent use of her abilities and the opportunities available to her and who possesses the character, the spirit, and the will to persevere in reaching towards her goals, was presented to Fiona Boyle, a junior from Danbury.

The Doolittle-Markham Scholarship Award, given to one of the four top-ranking seniors academically, as well as for her personal qualities and contribution to school life, was presented to Claire Donovan, a senior from Brewster, N.Y.

The Elizabeth M. and Joseph L. Molder Scholarship Award, given to a student who has attended Westover for at least two years and who is capable academically and possesses personal qualities such as enthusiasm for life and learning, integrity, concern for others, self-discipline, resiliency, and a sense of fairness, was presented to Caleigh Waskowicz, a senior from Southington.

Westover is a selective boarding and day school in Middlebury, with 209 students in grades 9-12 from 17 states and 19 countries. The school offers its students more than 20 Advanced Placement courses as well as signature programs in science, engineering, art history, and music.
