Southington Students to Get Manufacturing Mania

The event is part of Connecticut's Manufacturing Month.

Middle School students in Plantsville will get to learn what it takes to manufacture items from the ground up on Oct. 3 as part of Manufacturing Month.

The Aqua Turf Club will be the stage for Manufacturing Mania, an event seeks to foster student interest in the manufacturing process.

“These unique, interactive events give hundreds of middle school boys and girls a chance to learn what it takes to manufacture a product and how Connecticut-made products impact lives every day,” said Sue Palisano, director of education and workforce development for the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology.

Students will get to see the full production stream that gets a product from concept to market. They will get to see a 3-D printer in action and talk with state manufacturers about future career opportunities.

Gov. Dannel Malloy declared October Manufacturing Month to recognize the importance of the manufacturing industry in the state, according to a release from Connecticut .Dream It. Do It., an organization that is part of a nationwide campaign lead by The Manufacturing Institute.
