Southington Teen Tracked Down At UConn After 115 MPH Jaunt On I-84
A teenage driver from Southington eluded police on a wild ride on I-84, but was eventually caught and arrested.

TOLLAND COUNTY, CT — A teenage driver from Southington is facing seven criminal charges after a 115 mph jaunt in an expensive car through portions of Tolland County, state police said.
The 19-year-old is due in Rockville Superior Court on Sept. 19 after posting a $10,000 bond. He was charged with failure to display plates, reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, improper passing, failure to comply with passing on the right rules, failure to drive in the proper lane and second-degree reckless endangerment.
At 8:10 p.m.Friday, state troopers were conducting a speed enforcement detail clocked a red Audi A7 at 115 mph just east of Exit 66 in Vernon, an arrest report indicates.

It continued to accelerate as it passed the detail, according to an arrest report.
Troopers at the detail radioed troopers positioned near Exit 68 in Tolland about the Audi and a pursuit ensued once it passed them. The driver weaved in and out of traffic and even used the breakdown lane in an effort to elude troopers, according to an arrest report.

The pursuit was eventually called off, but the Audi was discovered about an hour later on the University of Connecticut campus, state police said.
