Spring Fair and grand reopening of Nature Center
A spring fair at the newly renovated Harry C. Barnes Memorial Nature Center in Bristol

After almost two years of being closed for renovations, the Harry C. Barnes Memorial Nature Center, on Shrub Road in Bristol, will reopen to the public on Saturday, May 16th from 10AM – 3PM. A Spring Fair, sponsored by the Bristol Rotary Club, will help celebrate this landmark event. The fair and nature center will be open to the public free of charge and will host a variety of music, food, crafts, family activities, animal exhibits, trail walks and programs about nature and the environment.
A brief ceremony will take place at 10:30AM to commemorate the reopening of the Center with presentations by city and state officials as well as by Scott Heth, Executive Director of the Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut (ELCCT), which owns and operates the Barnes Nature Center.
ELCCT offers a diversity of hands-on experiential programs for children and adults using a variety of resources and facilities. Programs are offered at the Barnes Nature Center, Indian Rock Nature Preserve and in schools across Connecticut. In 2014, ELCCT provided environmental educational programs to over 32,000 children and families from over 70 Connecticut communities! In addition, ELCCT serves as a land trust with over 640 acres of protected land in Bristol and Burlington, Connecticut. For more information call 860-583-1234 or visit www.elcct.org.
